“The last testament of time stands before me, if this battle is lost, the world shall descend into darkness, and all hope shall be lost.” Those were the famous last words of sir Myrad the greatest warrior of his time, before he rode into battle against the dark forces of what is only known today as the Abyss, The army of the darkest tyrant ever to set foot on the planes of Vispera. As the noble knight breathed his last; his chest pierced with the blade of Karaka, the evil tyrant king, the empire darkened, as if someone pulled a sheet over the sun. Plants withered, cities crumbled, entire populations suddenly disappeared. Survivors were used as slaves to build the Dark king’s empire, and those who were skilled in fighting joined the Abyss. Karaka’s army grew and so did his empire, all hope left the people and they blindly accepted the new king’s rule, for if they did not, death surly followed. The lush fields and forests of Vispera turned to barren deserts, the darkened sky only making them look more inhospitable. By some miracle however, one place remained, untouched by the darkness, free of the king’s evil reach. This, is where the prophesier stayed, the ancient elf knew this would happen and started her own army, though almost minuscule in size compared to the sheer vastness of Abyss, her warriors however possessed special gifts that made them much stronger, their training made them more educated in the strategies of battle. Many doubted the elf, but she foretold a prophesy, that a mighty army would rise to challenge the Abyss, the warriors would come in all talents and each one would know the way to the untouched city at birth. That very prophesy was foretold long before the elf started to gather her small army, most of them came on their own, escaping from the wastes, refusing to join the Abyss. However, some were born in the free city and joined on their own.
Centuries past and one day the elf was found dead on her balcony, a small dagger protruding from her neck. Some suspected a traitor, while others insisted that it was a hired assassin, hired by Karaka’s court to relieve the threat. Despite the elf’s death, the army continued to grow on its own, until the city could not hold all the warriors, forcing them to go out and seek an area to build a camp. They eventually found it, an area right at the edge of the dark king’s kingdom. Many perished trying to defend the small campsite, until a decision was made to build one of the largest forts of all time. The construction of the fort took years, some of the gifted already giving birth to second generations of the legendary warriors. Eventually the fort was completed and with it the second generation was old enough to fight.
You are the third generation of these warriors, the most powerful yet. The time has come to pit your wits against the Abyss, to show them your might with no mercy. A full age of time has passed and the dark king grows weaker, but do not be fooled. The scouts reported a large contingent of soldiers marching towards the fort Apreina, with no room for error and no way of escape it is now or never. Yet again the battle’s outcome will decide the future of the empire.

Bren sat atop the battlements, watching the small dots get bigger, more arriving on the dark horizon. “I think there are at least two hundred there. A mere scouting party compared to the Abyss.” Bren’s voice echoed into the heads of those who stood closest. “I count at least two fifty,” Carra said as she eyed the approaching army. The other men on the battlements had looks of fear on their faces; they had never encountered an army this big before, as they were only initiates. Bren’s low growl broke the silence as he scanned the ranks, deciding if they had many archers or mostly footmen. A young human made a whimpering sound as he mumbled out his words, “I hear they used to be human… but got turned into horrific beasts because of long service to the king…” his voice broke off as shouts of protest rose from the others. Carra interrupted them with news that they weren’t ready to accept, “beast is an understatement, they look more like demons now, and they get uglier every time I see them.” The men shrank slightly and jumped as Bren let off a warning growl as one trod on his tail. The one closest to Bren ran off “greenhorn.” Bren growled with words other than thought, to most around him it felt extremely unnatural. “I’m hungry. See you on the battlefield.” Carra spun on her heel and headed towards the cafeteria, she always found herself to do better if she had eaten first.
Bren didn’t move from the spot, but only continued to stare out towards the army, assessing all he could.

Bren snarled at Davik but kept his thoughts to himself, but rather listned to Davik's footfalls to anticipate his direction cafeteria he thought to himself. Bren picked up his spear that he had proped up against the wall.
Carra had retrieved a glass of red liquid from the server and had already started to drink when Davik made his comment. She only looked at him out from the corner of her eye, not needing to turn her head for details, because her highly trained eye had already noted all that she needed. "And if you keep that up, oath or no oath i swear by the crown it will be your neck thats going to get sliced." she chuckled inwardly and mumbled in her glass, not caring if any heard her "so many 'accidental' deaths happen around here as it is." she would not kill without reason, only if she found them a threat to the fort or the army. One of the newer recruits pailed as he looked at what she was drinking, she turned to look at him "its tomato pulp." a straight forward lie, but the recruit seemed to beleve her and went back to what he was doing, a slight look of relief on his face. Carra took one more glance at Davik, tilted her head back to quickly drink her substance, and slammed the glass on the table, with just enough force to make sure the glass wouldnt break. With that she silently walked out of the cafeteria and headed towards the armory to pick up a few more throwing knives.

Rastlin Grace lent causally against the battlements with his arms crossed against his chest "Two hundred and fifty? This is gonna be fun. How many men do we have again?" He asked, glancing at Bren. By his feet, his pet panther lay sleeping. Next to Rastlin, Elidor Grimwulf sat crossed legged, sharpening his scythe, precisely running the whetstone along the blade. After a few seconds he ran his thumb along the edge then grunted in satisfaction at the result. "You'd better get ready too Rast" He said, looking up from his scythe and putting the whetstone into a pocket attached to his belt. Rastlin shrugged then glanced around, looking for a deep patch of shadow. Spotting a suitable place, Rastlin pushed off from where he was leaning against the battlement, his movement disturbing the sleeping panther by his feet, and walked across till his was standing in shadows. Once in he spread his arms wide than began to mutter a chant under his break. A black mist began to seep out of the shadows and towards his hand where it began to form itself into a sword shape. By the time he finished the chant, the mist had formed and hardened into a long, vicious-looking obsidian sword. He turned it around in his fingers, examining his handiwork then chuckled.

"its not like im the leader or anything you know... but i think you do have a point" Bren knew he had enough sway in the argument and respect from the troops to make them mobilise. He took a glance at the army, who seemed to be going rather slow, for that he was suspicious, it was unnatural for any part of the Abyss to be moving so slow, even if they were of the lower classes. Bren projected his thoughts to everyone in the fort, and the few ally's that lived outside it. " Alright, it looks as if it would be a better option to match this army head on. I know most of you are unfermiliar with the stench of battle, but if you keep your training in mind i am positive we can win this one with minimal losses! Archers, i want you all to line the battlements and arm yourselves, on my mark you will fire. Everyone else assemble outside the gates!"
Carra smiled to herself when she heard bren. "it looks like the brave wolf is taking the battle into his own hands again.. or should i say paws." she chuckled to herself and quickly coated her dagger with one of her vials of poison. she rushed towards the gates, they slowly swung fully open and all the recruits other than archers rushed out.
Bren jumped from the battlements to land nexto Carra. " i dont like the reason that they are moving so slow.... it dosnt seem right to me." carra nodded, silently agreeing to his theory. Once almost everyone was out and the army was in range of the archers Bren let out a growled shout "FIRE!!" arrows rained from the sky, marking the begining of the battle.

"Oorah, time to get this battle started" Elidor murmured then leaped down from his place on the battlements, landing heavily due to his armor. A second later Rastlin landed lightly in a crouch next to him, soon followed by the panther. Elidor grinned then stretched his neck to the side, causing it to click. "Who ever gets the most kills get a free round of beers on me" He yelled and rested his scythe over his shoulder. Rastlin rolled his eyes at Elidor "your too enthusiastic. You'll get yourself killed one of these days. Pray that it won't be today"

Bren growled and shot forward, Carra watched them all go, quite amused. "here i come!" she shouted, with a thought she lowered her weight to as much as possible and raised her speed capabilities. Carra grinned then shot forward like a bullet, quickly gaining on the others. After ahwile she had passed them. Just before she angaged the enemy, that had now broken into a run, she instantly trebled her weight and plowed thrugh the first rank, sending them flying. Carra returned her weight to normal and started to sink her knife into the throat into those closest to her. Just then she noticed that one had a crossbow aimed at her "shit!" she quickly rolled to the side with her speed i think it would be wise to conserve my energy for those. she thought to herself and slowed herself down to her normal speed, just before letting fly a throwin knife that buired itself into the crossbowman's neck. He fell to the ground and started to scrape at his neck with his gnareled hands. Carra turned and continued her assult on the others, knowing that demon as good as dead.
Bren had reached his first enemy by now, and with a swift motion impaled the beast with his spear. Bren quickly pulled his spear out of the beasts spine and turned to face another. there was a large group of the opposing army that were still moving at a slow rate towards the centre " carra, get as clsoe as you can to the middle of the army, and use your vision to try find out why they are still moving at that pace, i fear the worst."
Carra instantly obayed, and started to hack her way towards the centre.

Elidor grunted and staggered slightly as the man ran into him. "Watch it kid. Save it for the enemy." he muttered, steadying himself with the shaft of his scythe. "Lets get going Eli." Rastlin, who had now began to run towards the enemy, yelled over his shoulder, his panther at his side. Elidor sprinted to catch up with Rastlin and grinned at him. "Luck bless you. See you in the pub after." he chuckled then ran ahead, as per the two usual tactics. Elidor was the first one in to smash up the front line defences and allow Rastlin to more easily target enemies with his magic. Elidor charged the first oncoming demon, slaming it with his armored left side, throwing it off balance. With a wide swing of his scythe, he sliced the staggering demon and cleaved it in two through it's midrift. He grinned to him self then. sensing an enermy behind him, he span around, rasing his scythe to block an attack... which didn't come. Elidor watched as the demon dropped to its knees then collapsed, black flames licking at its skull. Elidor glanced back at where Rastlin stood, a smirk on his face and another ball of the shadowy flames in his hand.
